The Homebuyers Program features "Get the Facts" presentations and the novela series "Nuestro Barrio". The pilot kicked off in June of 2007 and sessions have been held twice per month since then. Formed in response to need in the community, this program is sponsored by Freddie Mac in partnership with James B. Nutter and Guadalupe Centers, Inc. All sessions were held at the GCI building in-house. We have been able to reach many families, educating them with regards to all sorts of home buying myths and assisting them with the home buying process as needed.

The feedback from the attendees has been positive, and they want more! Participants have called back for assistance in communicating with their lenders, writing or translating letters, referrals to counseling agencies and lawyers, even help with foreclosures.

This year we will continue the Homebuyer sessions, but will be taking the program out into the community with outside groups as well. We will also be giving out copies of the "Nuestro Barrio" series on DVD.
