Workforce Development
You will need documents proving that you are authorized to work in the US with no restrictions. Additionally, some positions may require certain certificates or educational background that may require transcripts.
Guadalupe Centers conducts background check screenings that consist of fingerprinting through the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Family Care Safety Registry, and pre-employment 5-panel drug screening.

We teach Conscious Discipline which is a curriculum that helps children name their emotions, regulate them and ultimately learn to solve problems.
Our Center has implemented the 'Creative Curriculum' for over 20 years. This practical study focuses on the development of the whole child; social/emotional, physical, cognitive and language. We offer a 50/50 Dual Language Model. Instruction is offered in English 50% of the time (Mondays and Wednesdays) and in Spanish 50% of time (Tuesdays and Thursdays). Fridays are considered Translanguage Days, when children speak their preferred language.
We serve preschool children ages 3 through 5 years.
Our Formal instruction takes place daily from 8:00am - 3:30pm.
At this time we don't offer Before Care, but we offer After School care from 3:30pm to 5:00pm.
Yes. $60 weekly for After Care.
Yes, we participate in the MO Child and Adult Care Food Program. Children receive breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack daily.
No, this is a year round program.
Yes. As a Nationally Accredited Preschool, GCECC educators receive ongoing professional development weekly, monthly and annually. Your child's progress is tracked 3 times a year and shared with you during parent-teacher conferences and home visits.
FAMILY SUPPORT
No, we also serve individuals including older adults who are qualified for services.
You can receive food pantry twice per month as long as you haven’t received this assistance from another agency in the same time frame
Yes, we do not require that clients have legal status, but we do require some form of identification
Each client is pre-assessed for program eligibility, which varies depending on the type of funding available. If the client is eligible, an intake form is completed which includes a financial assessment and required documents. After all information is verified then services may be provided as determined by the case manager.
We are a multi service organization and in general the family support program provides food assistance, utility disconnect assistance, rental eviction assistance, limited mortgage foreclosure assistance, and information & referrals for needed services
Yes, the bill has to be in the applicant’s name
OLDER ADULTS PROGRAM
No, there are no fees for services but there is an opportunity to make a voluntary donation for either congregate meals or home-delivered meals.
Transportation is provided for participants that reside in a specific geographic location. For more information about this eligible area you can contact Linda Lara, Director of Older Adults Program.
We do offer various types of exercise activities such as Zumba and Tai Chi.
Anyone 60 years of older, or 18 to 59 years old and disabled with a state issued award letter.
Yes, outing vary from month to month and range from attending Starlight Theatre to attending a Kansas City Royals game.
SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT PROGRAM
Yes, through the Missouri Department of Mental Health.
Yes, our counselors are bilingual.
Yes, each individual client receives a financial assessment to determine eligibility for available subsidies.
No, but we do make referrals for 12-step support groups.
No, but we can provide a referral.
Yes, we can serve Kansas residents.
WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT/ADULT EDUCATION
No, Guadalupe Centers does not offer onsite GED Programs. If anyone is interested in receiving their GED our Workforce Development & Adult Education program can connect you to a referral partner that better suits your needs.
No, all of our services are free of charge.
No, we do not offer any type of loan assistance program. However, our Coaches can assist in financial coaching and refer you to a banking institution that meets your needs. As well as connect you to emergency loan programs offered in Kansas City through our non-profit partners.
No, our staff is bilingual and can assist you in English or Spanish.
No, our program is open to anyone of any race or gender.
You must be 18 years old in order for us to be able to assist you in one-on-one credit coaching.
SUMMER SCHOOL
Summer School is scheduled to run from June 5th to July 21st, with no instruction on June 19th, July 3rd and 4th.
Paper applications will be available for pick up beginning April at Guadalupe Centers Youth Recreation building located at 2641 Belleview, KCMO. We do, however, encourage parents to enroll via online link for fastest processing.
Students are enrolled when staff receives all proper documentation. If there are any questions regarding an application, Summer School Staff will reach out for clarification. Otherwise, you can assume that your student is enrolled as long as info is received prior to the deadline.
The program is open to any students who reside within the boundaries of the KCMO School District. Parents must be able to show proof of address and make copies available upon request.
The community portion of Summer School will only be offered at our Westside location this year. Villa will not accept any students from outside the district.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Yes; please submit the latest version of your tax forms with your application. As soon as you do have the tax form for the current year, please email it to scholarships@guadalupecenters.org
An unofficial transcript can be used for the initial application
All recipients are welcome to re-apply for the scholarship they were previously awarded. Scholarships do not automatically renew so a new application must be submitted to be considered for a future scholarship. Tony Aguirre Scholarship recipients – Once graduating from high school, you may apply for the Gilbert Guerrero Scholarship to continue your education.
Yes, we encourage all students to apply for either scholarship. If tax information is not available due to legal status, please submit the application with comments to the committee or reach out to scholarships@guadalupecenters.org.
